School Council & Green Team

School Council:

Our School Council meets fortnightly and is made up of two representatives from each class, as well as our head students and deputy head students. The School Council is an important aspect of school life as the children learn not only to relay important information to their class from the meetings, but also to listen to ideas from their fellow students on how to enhance our school. These ideas are taken to Mrs Cox for consideration.

These are some of the things that the School Council have been involved with over the past year:

– Golden Boot Challenge – encouraging parents to leave their car at home for the school run and to walk to school with their children

– St. Augustine’s Got Talent – an inclusive talent show for all year groups with heats and a grand final

– Children In Need fundraising

– Organised new school Virtues benches in playground, funded by F.O.S.A

– Christmas Fayre and Summer Fayre fundraising activities

– Monthly attendance at Stamford Town Youth Council meetings

Laudato Si’ (Care for our Common Home) Green Team:

Our Green Team children meet fortnightly, and are a group of children from KS1 and KS2 who are committed to making a difference to our planet. Children are involved in a range of activities including:

– Earth Day – a full day of activities to highlight the theme of Earth Day to the whole school including a fashion show using rubbish, and an art project repurposing materials that would otherwise be thrown away

– The RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch

– SKDC Let’s Talk Rubbish programme (Lincolnshire Recycles Initiative)

– Litter Picking

– Working towards the ‘Better Planet Schools’ award– reducing the amount of plastic waste in school

– Allotment in school garden to grow our own food

Part of our Green Team commitment is to follow Pope Francis’ written encyclical, Laudato Si’: to read more about this, please click here.
